Among numerous orchestras and bands of M. Glinka Conservatoire of Dnipropetrovsk, the Youth Symphony Orchestra FESTIVAL under the guidance of Dmitry Logvin takes a special place. Being the face and essential part of the educational institution, the orchestra shows the highest degree of performers’ professional skills of students from different departments of the Conservatoire. Exciting concert activity, especially within the International Festival of Music Art “Music without Limits”, varied repertoire, creative communication with famous musicians and conductors, encourage stable mastery growth of the orchestra.
It is difficult to overstate the importance of the students’ sharing music with the Professor of Paris Conservatory, cellist Jérôme Pernoo; Professor of P. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, violinist Alexander Trostiansky; Professor of Hannover University of Music, Drama and Media, pianist Igor Tchetuev; professors of the Geneva University of Music, French horn performer Jean Pierre Berry, trombonist Jacques Mauger, violinist
Sergey Ostrovsky; professors of the Bern University of Arts cellist Denis Severin; Associate Professor of P. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, pianist Viacheslav Poprugin; Professor of the Zhyganov Kazan State Conservatory, pianist Yevgeniy Mikhailov; Soloist of the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, tuba performer Rubén Durá de Lamo; concert pianists Pavel Dombrovsky, Alexander Romanovsky, Vadym Kholodenko; conductor of the Ashdod Symphony Orchestra Vag Papian and many other famous musicians.
The audience had a chance to enjoy such Ukrainian premieres as F. Poulenc’s Piano Concerto in C sharp minor (soloist – Rector of M. Glinka Conservatoire of Dnipropetrovsk, Honoured Art Worker of Ukraine Yuri Novikov); Otello Overture by G. Rossini, Piano Concerto by Nino Rota (soloist – Viacheslav Poprugin).
In 2016 Dmitry Logvin conducted the first Ukrainian performance of Bachianas Brasileiras No3 by H. Villa-Lobos with Symphony Orchestra FESTIVAL and Rector of M. Glinka Conservatoire of Dnipropetrovsk Yurii Novikov as a soloist.
The basis of the professional growth of the orchestra is, undoubtedly, the International Festival "Music without Limits”. Turning over the page of the tenth international music feast and a whole range of projects dedicated to the music of different countries: Days of Germany, Days of Italian Music, Days of France, Germany and Switzerland, the orchestra is looking forward to new creative achievements, projects and, what is even more important, - new emotions, interesting meetings and rises of creativity. The repertoire of the orchestra consists of classical and romantic masterpieces as well as modern Ukrainian and foreign music.
