Petro DOROSZ (in Polish – Piotr Dorosz) (Warsaw, Poland)

Ethnomusicologist and musician.

In the years 2005-2011 he studied musicology at the Institute of Musicology of the University of Warsaw. An employee of the Phonographic Collection at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw (the oldest and largest collection of folk music records in Poland) and a post-graduate student at this Institute (he writes a thesis on Polish folk poetry songs). In the work he cares, digitizes and develops recordings from the Phonographic Collection and the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

He arranges and leads excursions in various ethnic regions of Poland, where the last active rural village folk singers and musicians are recorded. He is also author of popular folk music articles and lectures.

He plays on various folk and classic music instruments – piano, organ, Polish folk wind and keyboard instruments. He is the founder and leader of the band “Kapela Dorosza”, playing traditional folk music from the eastern part of Mazovia.
