Folk Instruments (accordion)

Sergey Karlov (accordion) is a senior lecturer of the Folk Instruments Department at Mikhail Glinka Conservatoire of Dnipropetrovsk.

He was educated at the Dnipropetrovsk Music College named after M.I. Glinka (class of L. Martysh), S. Prokofiev Donetsk State Musical Academy (class of prof. V. Voievodin and A. Timoshenko). He took the post-graduate course at the Voronezh State Academy of Arts (class of prof. Sklyarov).

Sergey Karlov is the first prize winner of the 38th International Accordion Competition (Klingenthal, Germany, 2001), the winner of the International Competition of Accordionists (Castelfidardo, Italy, 2003) in the categories «Classical Music» (1st prize), and «Music by Astor Piazzolla» (1st prize).

He is a participant of numerous international festivals: «Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival» (Germany, 2002), «Rheingau Musik Festival» (Germany, 2003), Mecklenburg Festival (Isle of Rugen, Germany, 2003), as well as the International Festival in Limbazhi (Riga, Latvia, 2003).

Sergey gives concerts in Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Italy and other European countries.
