Folk Instruments (balalaika)

Valentin Tereshchenko (balalaika) is the Associate Professor of the Folk Instruments Department at the Rostov State Conservatory (Academy) named after S.V.Rachmaninoff.

He was educated at the Dnepropetrovsk Music College named after M.I. Glinka (class of Yu. Fedotov), Rostov State Conservatory (Academy) named after S.V.Rachmaninoff and took the post-graduate course there (class of prof. Alexander Danilov, the People's Artist of Russia).

He is the winner of the 6th All-Russian Folk Music Competition named after V.Andreev (Tver, 2001), the 5th International Folk Instruments Competition «Cup of the North» (Cherepovets, 2004).

Valentin Tereshchenko is the author of several transcriptions for balalaika and pianoas well as for Russian folk instruments ensembles.

He has an active concert schedule. Valentin Tereshchenko has prepared and performed a series of chamber music programs. His repertoire is multifaceted: from transcriptions of Russian and foreign classics to original compositions and arrangements of folk tunes.
